White Water Canoeing Weekend

Your White Water Canoeing Adventures will take place in Palmer Rapids, Ontario on the Little Mississippi River. Training and land activities, along with your meals and overnight accommodations will happen at Camp Riverview (June) and Cedar Ridge Camp (October). Both are located near McArthur’s Mills ON, just outside of Bancroft. These sites feature fabulous activities including a challenge course, archery, trail hikes and much more! Transportation to and from Palmer Rapids will be arranged. White Water Canoeing is open to everyone ages 16+. (Minors must be accompanied by an adult)

Here’s the breakdown and what’s Included:

* 6 delicious camp-prepared meals and a variety of snacks throughout the day.

* 2 nights shared accommodations in tents or cabins depending on the weekend chosen

* Friday Evening Flatwater Training and Canoeing Fun at Camp

* Saturday All-Day White Water Canoeing Adventure in Palmer Rapids

* Sunday Morning Adventure Activities at Camp (archery, challenge course, hiking etc)

* Evening Bonfires and Bevvies 

Camping Skills Weekends

All Camping Skills Weekends take place at Camp Riverview, just outside of Bancroft ON.

We are offering 3 different levels of training for summer 2025:

Level One – Basic/Beginner Camper – come learn the camping basics to get your enjoying the outdoors. Learn how to properly set up a tent and a campsite, cook over a camp stove, how to build a fire, how to protect yourself and the site from animals, weather etc. You’ll get to try some basic canoeing/kayaking, learn what to pack for a day hike and gain all the skills needed to camp at a regulated front country campground. (such as Ontario Parks) This is the perfect weekend for those who have never been camping and want to learn. You will be camping overnight, both nights at a front country camp site. All equipment provided. Adults $300 + HST. Children aged 8+ FREE.  This level is open to everyone. (all genders and anyone aged 8+) (minors must be accompanied by a paying adult).

Level Two – Backcountry Camper – this weekend is for those who have camped before but want to gain more knowledge. Perfect for those who are interested in backcountry camping. On this weekend, you will learn more in depth skills such as backcountry basics, cooking over open fire, trip planning, navigation skills, packing a vessel, portaging techniques, safe drinking water, basic first aid, packing for day tripping. You will be camping 1 night at a front country site and one night at a backcountry site. Most equipment provided. Adults $300 + HST. Children aged 12+ $125 + HST. This level is open to everyone (all genders and anyone aged 12+) (minors must be accompanied by an adult)

Level Three – Wilderness Survival – this weekend is for the advanced camper who wants to gain more knowledge and skills for remote wilderness camping or distance tripping (hiking a multi-day trail). This course will teach you in depth skills such as, shelter building, animal tracking, foraging, wilderness first aid, signs & signals, communication, expedition trip planning, equipment repair, food preparation & storage, etc. You will be hiking into and camping both nights at a remote backcountry camp location. This level is opening to anyone aged 16+, however you should have solid prior camping experience. This course is not suitable for beginners.

For all levels of Camping Weekends, all main equipment and food is provided for the entire weekend, except for sleeping bags and pillows.  For Wilderness level, you will also need your own camping trip pack (hiking bag) and a few essentials. A list will be supplied prior to the weekend. 

What To Pack 

Typical weather in early Spring and Fall can be somewhat unpredictable. A full detailed packing list will be sent to you prior to arrival. Wet suits for White Water Canoeing can also be rented from the paddling co-op before the adventure begins.

How To Get There

Camp Riverview is located near Bancroft, Ontario. Palmer Rapids (canoeing site) is approximately 20 minutes from the camp.
